On 1 July, 2026, changes will come into force regarding how the State Commission of Health and Work Capacity Experts (the Commission) informs persons about the approaching expiration of their disability status.

Going forward, persons  will receive reminders about the upcoming expiration of their disability status, enabling them to prepare and, if necessary, submit the required documents to the Commission for renewed disability assessment in a timely manner.

Reminders will be sent twice:

  • the first reminder – 90 days before the expiration of the disability status;
  • the second reminder – 45 days before the expiration of the disability status.

Reminders will be sent automatically from the Disability Information System:

  • to the person’s official electronic address (e-address), if it is activated;
  • or to the email address provided by the individual in their application for a disability assessment.

The purpose of the reminders is to encourage persons to take timely action before the expiration of their disability status, thereby reducing the risk of delays in submitting documents for a renewed assessment, which could otherwise result in the expiry of disability status and, consequently, in access to support services aimed at mitigating the effects of disability.

With this solution, the Commission strengthens its client-centred and socially responsible approach by ensuring that people receive timely and clear information.

The sending of email notifications is being introduced within the framework of the ESF+ project No. 4.3.6.2/1/23/I/001 “Improvement of the Efficiency and Quality of the State Commission of Health and Work Capacity Experts”. Notifications to the official electronic address (e-address), are provided within the framework of the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility project No. 2.1.2.1.i.0/1/23/I/VARAM/005 “National Central Platform for the Shared Digital Services for Client-Centred and Proactive e-Services for Society (Latvija.lv)”.
